Tottenham captain Ledley King has apologised to his manager Harry Redknapp following his arrest outside a London nightclub.

The England international was arrested over an alleged assault in the early hours of Sunday morning following a disturbance.

Having been bailed after spending several hours in police custody, King issued the following statement on the Spurs’ official website.

“I sincerely regret that a night out with friends went too far,” he said.
