Goalie Henrik Lundqvist, who stopped 67 of the high-powered Capitals’ 70 shots in two playoff games, was foremost among the Rangers in creating their 2-0 Eastern Conference first-round series lead going into Monday night’s Game 3 at Madison Square Garden.

Sidney Crosby was busy grappling with the pugnacious Philadelphia Flyers rookie Darroll Powe behind the net when Mike Richards, the Flyers’ captain, sneaked up behind Crosby and pried off his helmet as if he were tugging the crown off a king.
Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 21-year-old center and captain, may be revered in a lot of places, but Philadelphia is not one of them. As the bareheaded Crosby was pulled away, sweaty and flustered, fans roared as loudly as they cheered anything else on Sunday in a 6-3 victory for the Flyers.
