Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug has said they will not join rivals threatening to quit Formula One over plans to introduce a budget cap.
On Wednesday, Renault joined Ferrari in threatening to withdraw from the sport over the issue, while the likes of Toyota and both the Red Bull-backed teams having already voiced their opposition to the cap, set at £40million.

Ferrari have sensationally threatened to quit Formula One after refusing to accept spending caps planned for next season.
In a short statement on the team’s website, the sport’s most iconic team said they will not be on the grid in 2010.
“We confirm our opposition to the new technical regulations adopted by the FIA and do not intend entering our cars in the 2010 F1 Championship,” the statement read.

Lewis Hamilton has all-but admitted that his car’s deficiencies mean he will not be able to mount a successful defence of the world championship.
The McLaren Mercedes driver finished ninth in the Spanish Grand Prix – Hamilton’s usual optimism conspicuous by its absence in the immediate aftermath of the race at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Starting 14th on the grid, Hamilton fell even further down the field on the opening lap following an accident that caused the retirement of four cars.
