Andre Berto made the third defence of his World Boxing Council welterweight title with a unanimous decision over Colombia’s Juan Urango on Saturday.
The undefeated 25-year-old’s speed and skills frustrated Urango and he was able to keep the fight largely at distance at Hollywood’s Hard Rock Live Arena.
Two judges scored the bout 118-110 for the American, while a third saw it 117-111 to give Berto the 25th win of his burgeoning career.
Urango – beaten by Ricky Hatton on points at the start of 2007 – still holds the International Boxing Federation light-welterweight crown he won on January 30, though, and is expected to drop back down to 140lbs.

Former IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron ended Mexican Alfred Angulo’s unbeaten record with a convincing unanimous decision on the same night.
Cintron (30-2-1) scored with lead left jabs, boxing from the outside for most of their 12-round light-middleweight bout to outpoint the pressure-minded Angulo (15-1).
Angulo did his best work in the middle rounds, when he shortened the punching range and connected with combinations to the head.
But Cintron resumed his lead left jab strategy in the closing rounds and did not let Angulo get close to him. All three judges scored the bout for Cintron 116-112.
