Batista and Big Show faced off on Monday night RAW for the right to challenge new WWE champion Randy Orton at Judgement Day.
The Animal, eager to exact revenge on The Viper for putting him out of commission for months courtesy of a brutal punt, was part of the losing Tag Team that saw Orton claim the title at Backlash.
He acted swiftly in earning the opportunity to avenge that defeat, though, as former World Heavyweight champion John Cena also gained some vengeance against The World’s Largest Athlete by earning the seven footer a count-out loss.
To make matters worse, when Show did eventually return to the ring, he was on the receiving end of a spear from the victorious Batista.
Orton himself was also on hand to take on United States Champion MVP, which was interrupted by a kendo stick-wielding Shane McMahon.
After delivering a succession of blows Shane O Mac then dropped a flying elbow on his nemesis before fleeing and leaving the bout a no-contest.
In other title action, unified WWE Tag Team Champions Carlito and Primo soundly defeated Jamie Noble and Chavo Guerrero.
Cena was a no-show for his scheduled bout with The Miz, meanwhile, and Matt Hardy made use of the cast on the hand he broke against brother Jeff at Backlash, in beating Goldust.
Kofi Kingston also overcame The Brian Kendrick and Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella and ‘Santina’ Marella defeated Divas Champion Maryse, Beth Phoenix, Rosa Mendes and Jillian Hall in Tag Team action.
